UA catches duo’s ‘Love’ pitch

Thriller to be produced by Luchessi

United Artists has picked up Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer’s thriller pitch “Undying Love,” to be produced by Gary Luchessi.

UA prexy Lindsay Doran and VP James Middleton late last week heard the pitch and snapped it up with a pre-emptive $400,000 against $750,000 sum.

The pitch puts a sinister twist on the “Ghost” storyline, and involves a young woman whose boyfriend dies in an accident but comes back as a specter to prevent her from getting on with her life.

“Undying Love” is the second pitch Slavkin and Swimmer have set up in the past six weeks. In January, Castle Rock Entertainment acquired an untitled pitch from the duo for Meg Ryan’s Prufrock Pictures. They penned the spec “Submerged,” which MGM acquired in 1996, and wrote “Dark Reflection” for Fox.

The writers are repped by Rob Carlson and Gregory McKnight of the William Morris Agency.
