United Artists has purchased a romantic comedy pitch titled “Betty” from Susan Sisko, in a low- against mid-six-figure deal that marks the first studio feature-writing job for the TV vet.
UA exec VP of production Jeff Kleeman brought the project into the studio.
Sisko, with her late husband and writing partner Les Carter, was a consultant and scripter for several episodes of the Par/ABC series “The Marshal.” Their other television credits include an episode of “Homicide: Life on the Street,” stints on “L.A. Law” and “Almost Grown,” and a supervising producer role on “The Antagonists.”
Sisko’s spec feature screenplay “Bunny and Clyde” is on track for independent production, with Laura Bickford attached as producer.
Sisko is represented by her agent, Lucy Stutz of the Rothman Agency, and by attorney Bill Jacobson of Browning, Jacobson & Klein.
