Thesps buzz for ‘Bruno’

MacLaine making feature directing bow

Joey Lauren Adams, Brett Butler, Jennifer Tilly and Gwen Verdon will join previously announced cast members Kathy Bates, Shirley MacLaine and Gary Sinise in J&M Entertainment’s comedy-drama “Bruno.”

The pic, which marks MacLaine’s feature directing debut, is currently shooting in North Carolina.

Penned by David Ciminello, “Bruno” is the story of a 9-year-old genius from Long Island (“Home Alone 3’s” Alex D. Linz), who becomes a spelling bee champion on the Catholic School Circuit.

J&M CEO Julie Palau is exec producer; David Kirkpatrick is producing.

Adams is being repped in the deal by Chris Andrews at ICM and manager William Blaylock. Butler is repped by ICM’s George Freeman; Tilly is repped by UTA.
