Carr inked to rewrite script
Morgan Creek Prods. has rounded out the cast of actioner “Chill Factor,” inking veteran thesps Peter Firth, David Paymer and Hudson Leick — best known for her regular role on TV’s “Xena” — to star in the pic about men who must transport a substance that’s as unstable as it is toxic.
The film toplines Skeet Ulrich and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the Hugh Johnson-helmed pic.
In addition, novelist Caleb Carr, author of “The Alienist,” has been hired for a production rewrite of the script by Mike Cheda and Drew Gitlin.
“Chill” follows the mission of two men transporting an extremely poisonous substance that will cause widespread contamination if it’s allowed to warm higher than 50 degrees.
Morgan Creek topper James Robinson is producing with Warner Bros., where MCP is based. Jonathan Zimbert, production prexy at Morgan Creek, will exec produce with Bill Bannerman. Pic is set to begin lensing next month in Utah and on the East Coast.
Firth (“Amistad” and Disney’s upcoming “Mighty Joe Young”) is represented by agent Scott Harris at Innovative Artists and manager Steve Lovett.
Paymer (“Mighty Joe Young.”) is repped by Susan Smith of Susan Smith & Associates.
Leick is familiar to fans of hit syndie TV action-fantasy series “Xena: Warrior Princess” as the show’s bad-goddess character Callisto. She’s also co-starring with Wolfgang Bodison and Jim Hanks in the indie feature “Blood Type.” Pic, currently lensing in Los Angeles, is directed and written by Kevin Williams.
Leick is repped by Jeff Goldberg of Agency for the Performing Arts and Lena Roklin of Roklin Management.
Carr is repped by John Ufland and Debbie Deuble at Don Buchwald & Associates.
