Teitelbaum casts firm

General Casting to provide background talent

Casting director Robert Teitelbaum has formed General Casting, whicht will specialize in background talent, stand-ins and models.

Teitelbaum — who has provided extras and other talent for films like “Postcards From the Edge” and “Barton Fink” and TV programs such as “Baywatch” and “In Living Color” — said he thinks his Burbank-based firm would be “the first company of its kind to enter a highly specialized market which has primarily been dominated by only one other large company and a string of small independents.”

Formerly with Universal/MCA Extra Casting, Teitelbaum worked under Karl Brindal, providing additional talent for shows like “Murder, She Wrote,” “Airwolf” and “The Four Seasons.”

Joining him as exec casting director is Gary D. Cloppas, who was previously at Central Casting and Disc Casting. Cloppas provided background actors for “Dynasty,” “Dallas,” “Knots Landing,” “Mad About You” and “Seinfeld.”

“We want to focus on providing the service that seems to have evaporated in below-the-line casting and payroll,” Cloppas said.

General Casting can be reached at (818) 972-1500.
