Thesp gets lifetime achievement award

Hispanics in the entertainment industry will honor their own Wednesday at the Imagen Foundation’s awards dinner at the Beverly Hilton.

Honorees include Martin Sheen, who will receive the foundation’s lifetime achievement award, and Jennifer Lopez, recipient of the 1997 Lasting Image Award for her work in “Selena.” NBC’s “Access Hollywood” will get the foundation’s Vision Award.

Nominees for Imagen’s top awards, which honor positive portrayals of Latinos in TV and films, are:

Features: “Anaconda,” “The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca,” “Selena.”

Primetime TV series: “Chicago Hope,” “Nash Bridges,” “Profiler,” “Star Trek Voyager.”

Daytime drama: “All My Children,” “General Hospital.”

Informational programming: “Cafe Ole With Giselle Fernandez,” “Diego’s Story,” “Food for the Gods.”

Documentary: “Fear and Learning at Hoover Elementary,” “Los Pastores.”

Those expected to attend the event include Jimmy Smits, Hector Elizondo, Maria Conchita Alonzo, Cheech Marin, Liz Torres and writer-director Gregory Nava.
