Rush adding voice to ‘Magic Pudding’

'Shine' vet signs on for ani feature

SYDNEY — Oscar-winning Australian actor Geoffrey Rush (“Shine”) has signed up for a lead voice role in “The Magic Pudding,” an animated feature from Sydney-based Energee Entertainment.

Rush will play the part of young koala Bunyip Bluegum in the film, which is due for delivery mid-to-late 1999.

Based on a bestselling classic Oz kids novel, pic is being adapted by Oz kids scribe Morris Gleitzman.

Energee won movie and merchandising rights to “Pudding” last year, ahead of such international contenders as Disney and Jim Henson Prods. after five years of negotiations with the estate of late author Norman Lindsay.
