Paramount Pictures has scored Bill Wolf’s spec script “Total Sports” for Scott Rudin Prods. The high six-figure sale is the first for Wolf, a 10-year production veteran with ESPN.
The screenplay follows an employee of an all-sports cable TV network who racks up a gambling debt. As he sinks further into the gambling underworld, he discovers that the network is paying off football referees to keep the games close — and viewers tuned in.
Joshua and Jonas Pate will be associate producers.
Rudin Prods.’ execs did not return calls, but sources said company president Adam Schroeder and director of development Molly Rain brought in the project.
Rudin Prods., the Pate brothers and Wolf were all repped by UTA.
