Thesp near deal to join Sedgwick, Morrow in indie pic
Lela Rochon, currently onscreen in two of the weekend’s top 10 films, in talks to join Kyra Sedgwick and Rob Morrow in the indie romantic comedy “Labor Pains.”
The Dogsmile Pictures production is set to shoot in New York this fall. It is produced by Todd Hoffman and directed by Tracy Alexson.
Rochon plays Lulu, who helps Sedgwick’s character hide the fact that she’s pregnant from her family and ex-boyfriend until the last possible moment.
The action takes place in the 12 hours leading up to the delivery, when Sedgwick’s family, her ex-boyfriend (Morrow) and her ex-boyfriend’s family descend upon the hospital.
Rochon is appearing in Warner Bros.’ Frankie Lymon biopic “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” and Sony’s Jean-Claude Van Damme actioner “Knock Off,” which ranked fourth and seventh, respectively, on the most recent weekend domestic B.O. chart.
Her previous credits include “Waiting to Exhale” and “The Chamber.”
Rochon was repped in the deal by Chuck James at the Gersh Agency and Andrea Pett-Joseph and Cynthia Pett-Dante at Brillstein/Grey Entertainment.
