Polygram’s glowing over Oz ‘Radiance’

Wins Down Under distrib rights to low-budget pic

SYDNEY — Polygram Filmed Entertainment has won Australian and New Zealand distribution rights to “Radiance,” a low-budget effort that’s the talk of Oz film industry after a bidding war with arthouse distribs NewVision and Becker’s Dendy.

The deal comes a week after Aussie major Beyond Films nabbed global sales rights to the pic, which will launch at Cannes.

Pic, which tells the story of three sisters who reluctantly reunite at their mother’s funeral and unravel their complicated past, was made without distrib attachments and backed by the Australian Film Commission, pubcaster SBSI, moviecaster Showtime Australia and private investors.

It is the feature debut for helmer Rachel Perkins.
