Peter Soderbergh dead at 69

Father of screenwriter Steven Soderbergh

Peter Soderbergh, father of director-screenwriter Steven Soderbergh and the former dean of the Louisiana State U. College of Education, died Feb. 17of unreported causes in Baton Rouge, La. He was 69.

The history of the American cinema was a special interest of the longtime educator, whose son’s films include “sex, lies, and videotape.”

Soderbergh, a decorated veteran of the Korean War, arrived at LSU in 1976. He helped put together the core curriculum adopted by the university 10 years later.
