Hanks-Ryan starrer to preem at confab
Warner Bros.’ Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan starrer “You’ve Got Mail” will preem at this year’s ShowEast confab, being held Oct. 19-22 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.
“We are proud to open the ShowEast convention with a special screening of ‘You’ve Got Mail,’ giving the exhibition community an early look at one of our exceptional holiday films …,” said Dan Fellman, executive VP of Warner Bros. domestic theatrical distribution.
Based on the Ernst Lubitsch comedy “The Shop Around the Corner,” “You’ve Got Mail” is produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Nora Ephron, who also directed. Ephron co-wrote the screenplay for the pic with her sister, Delia.
Ephron was previously honored at ShowEast when she received the George Eastman Award. Her prior directing credits include “Sleepless in Seattle,” “This Is My Life” and “Mixed Nuts.”
Ephron captured three Oscar nods for her screenplay work on “Seattle,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “Silkwood.”
