To co-star with Shue, Eckhart
Thomas Jane has joined the cast of “Molly,” starring opposite Elisabeth Shue and Aaron Eckhart in the MGM pic about a mentally handicapped woman who becomes a genius after undergoing a revolutionary medical procedure.
Jane will play a hospital employee who develops a special, close friendship with Shue’s character.
John Duigan is directing from a script by Dick Christie. Bill MacDonald is producing, and Amy Heckerling is exec producing. Shooting is set for a mid-March start, in Los Angeles, toward a possible release in late 1998 or early 1999.
Jane’s recent film credits include “Boogie Nights” and “The Last Time I Committed Suicide.” He’ll also be seen in the title role in upcoming indie pic, “The Velocity of Gary,” opposite Eckhart and Paulina Porizkova in Gramercy’s “Thursday” and in Terrence Malick’s “The Thin Red Line.”
Jane’s “Molly” deal was negotiated by his agent Colton Gramm of ICM and manager Camille Cerio.
