‘Illuminata’ to BAC Films

Specialty distrib grabs French rights to Sarandon starrer

Specialty distrib BAC Films has picked up French rights to Overseas Film Group’s erotic farce “Illuminata,” starring John Turturro and Susan Sarandon.

Pic, which co-stars Christopher Walken, Katherine Borowitz and Rufus Sewell, chronicles the trials and romantic escapades of a playwright while he is attempting to stage an overlooked masterpiece.

“Illuminata,” which is produced by John Penotti, is directed by Turturro and written by Brandon Cole and Turturro. It is in post-production.

Pic has also been sold to Japan (JVC), Italy (CDI) and Spain (Sogepaq).

Overseas’ domestic arm, First Look Pictures, is currently releasing the Vanessa Redgrave starrer “Mrs. Dalloway,” which has grossed just under $1 million in the U.S.
