Coughlin may add to Guggenheim's cast
Actress Kate Hudson is in final negotiations to co-star in the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow pic “Gossip,” to be directed by Davis Guggenheim.
Marisa Coughlin also is expected to join the “Gossip” cast, which includes previously announced thesps James Marsden, Joshua Jackson and Norman Reedus.
Robert Newmyer and Jeffrey Silver of Outlaw Prods. are producing and Joel Schumacher takes on exec producing chores. Script is by Greg Poirier, Roger Kumble and Theresa Rebeck.
“Gossip” is about a group of college students who are given an assignment to plant a piece of gossip and chronicle its ramifications. Hudson will portray one of the two victims of the planted rumor, which has tragic consequences.
Since appearing in the TV series “Party of Five” three years ago, Hudson (the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn) has begun making a name for herself with leading roles in such features as Morgan J. Freeman’s recent Toronto film fest entry, “Desert Blue,” and the Paramount/Lakeshore pic “200 Cigarettes,” starring alongside Courtney Love, Jay Mohr, Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck and Christina Ricci.
Hudson is repped by Jason Barrett and Steve Dontanville of ICM.
Coughlan co-stars in Dimension’s “Killing Mrs. Tingle,” written and directed by “Scream” scribe Kevin Williamson. Coughlan’s deal is being brokered by ICM’s Nicole Pfeffer.
