Haysbert pumped in ‘Hearts’

Thesp to join Ford, Hunt, Dutton in Pollack-helmed drama

Dennis Haysbert, best known for driving the getaway car in Michael Mann’s “Heat,” will join Harrison Ford, Kristin Scott Thomas, Bonnie Hunt and Charles Dutton in the Sydney Pollack-directed “Random Hearts” for Columbia.

The drama centers on Ford and Scott Thomas’ investigation of why their dead spouses were on a doomed plane. Ford’s character, Dutch Van Den Broeck, is a sergeant in Internal Affairs, and Haysbert plays Big George Beaufort, a D.C. police officer who’s not exactly predisposed to helping Dutch, since he perceives IA to be the enemy.

The film, which just began shooting from a script by Kurt Luedtke and David Rayfiel, is being produced by Ray Stark and Marykay Powell, with Ricky Strauss and Susan Avalon exec producing. Haysbert is repped by Gersh’s Lorrie Bartlett and managed by Robert Goodman of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler.
