In addition to starring in Warner Bros.’ “Lethal Weapon 4,” Mel Gibson this summer will appear on movie screens as the host of the Will Rogers Audience Collection Trailer.
The annual promo push will be shown on more than 20,000 screens across the country, Memorial Day through Labor Day. With a screen short preceding an audience collection, the tradition is a crucial part of the fundraising efforts of the Will Rogers Institute, which works toward understanding pulmonary disease and disorders.
Circuits showing the trailer include Regal Cinemas, AMC Entertainment and United Artists Theatres; Disney, Fox, New Line Cinema, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros., Universal and DreamWorks sponsor the trailer.
Dan Fellman, exec VP of distribution for Warner Bros., Erik Lomis, senior VP of distribution for MGM, and New Wave Entertainment were instrumental in completion of the 1988 trailer.
Past onscreen hosts include Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, Clint Eastwood, Shirley MacLaine, Frank Sinatra, Gregory Peck, John Wayne, Charlton Heston and Barbra Streisand.
