Robert Forster will play a good Samaritan truck driver in Millennium/Sandstorm’s “Outside Ozona”; Millennium chairman Avi Lerner asked him to step into the role after J.T. Walsh, who was originally cast, died unexpectedly last week.
Joining the cast simultaneously with Forster is Swoosie Kurtz. The two join an ensemble cast that includes Kevin Pollack, David Paymer, Penelope Ann Miller, Sherilyn Fenn, Meat Loaf and Taj Mahal.
“We are very sad at the untimely passing of J.T. Walsh and our condolences go out to his family and friends,” said Lerner. “My sincere thanks to our friend Robert Forster for stepping in to help us out in a very difficult situation.”
Forster in 1997 appeared in Millennium’s “American Perfekt” with Amanda Plummer and Paul Sorvino. He currently is a supporting-actor Oscar nominee for “Jackie Brown.”
Kurtz, an Emmy -and Tony-winner, most recently starred in two Showtime longforms, “My Own Country” and “More Tales of the City.” Last year she co-starred with Jim Carrey in “Liar Liar.”
