Former “Saturday Night Live” star Rob Schneider has teamed with scribe Harris Goldberg on two features: “The Big Miss” and indie pic “Deuce Baggio, Prostitute Guy.” Schneider may star in both, but nothing is set yet.
Schneider and Goldberg will pen the script for “The Big Miss,” which will be based on a pitch about a mild-mannered mailman who gets a chance to win $1 million by shooting a basket during halftime at a basketball game. After he blows the shot, his life gets much more complicated.
John Carls, who has a deal at Playtone Prods., will produce the project.
“Deuce Baggio” will be a take-off on “American Gigolo.” Pic’s budget will be around $8 million, co-financed by Canadian government film grants and private investors.
Goldberg and Steve Denton are producing. Brad Wyman may be an exec producer, but no deal is in place.
Schneider is due out in “Susan’s Plan” from helmer Jon Landis. Other feature credits include “Demolition Man.”
Goldberg, who had a three-pic deal at Disney, scripted “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” with Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
Other scripts he’s written include “Heart” for producer David Hoberman, “The Grandfathers” for helmer Luc Besson and a co-writing stint with Tom Nursall on “The Step Toward Tomorrow.”
