Screenwriters Ken Rance and Dallas Jackson have landed their second project in less than a year with producer John Davis’ Fox-based Davis Entertainment.
Davis recently set up the writing team’s urban comedy horror pitch “Homecoming: The Revenge” at Fox 2000. The pair will get a low against mid-six figures to pen the script.
Meanwhile, Marlon Wayans has signed on to star in and produce Rance and Jackson’s action comedy spec “Repros” for Davis and 20th Century Fox.
Davis production VP Craig Berenson and creative exec William Sherak brought “Homecoming” to Fox 2000 exec VP Alex Gartner.
The pitch, described by Sherak as ” ‘Scream’ in the ‘hood,” focuses on a teenager who does time for murder and then returns to settle the score at his high school homecoming.
“There hasn’t really been an urban teen horror pic,” Sherak said. “It’s a niche that hasn’t been tapped.”
Davis Entertainment bought “Repros” last summer out of its discretionary fund. The script is about two hotshot auto repo guys in need of quick cash who have 12 hours to retrieve a stolen Ferrari and receive a $50,000 reward.
Rance and Jackson are developing the script for Wayans, who will produce along with John Davis.
Rance and Jackson also penned the screenplay “Scary Dates” for Fox. The writers were repped by the Major Clients Agency’s David McIlvaine and manager Paul Kelmenson.
Wayans was repped in the deal by his agents at UTA and his managers at Gold/Miller.
