Dillane, Fox see the ‘Light’

Beaufoy making helming debut

LONDON — Stephen Dillane and Kerry Fox, both last seen in “Welcome to Sarajevo,” have taken the two main adult roles in “The Darkest Light,” which marks the feature directing debut of “The Full Monty” scripter Simon Beaufoy.

The film has just started shooting on location in North Yorkshire. Beaufoy, who wrote the screenplay, is co-directing with Billie Eltringham.

Pic tells the story of two girls in a Yorkshire farming community who see a vision they can’t explain. One of the girls believes it’s a miracle that will save the life of her terminally ill brother.

Dillane and Fox play the parents of the boy and girl, while newcomers Keri Arnold, Kavita Sungha and Jason Walton play the children.

The film is produced by Mark Blaney of Footprint Films and is financed by Pathe Pictures in association with BBC Scotland and the Yorkshire Media Production Agency.
