Cunningham options ‘Ex’

'Friday the 13th' helmer to make MTV-style murder pic

Indie horrormeister Sean S. Cunningham has optioned Tim Schlattmann’s screenplay “Generation-Ex,” which he plans to produce and direct for his Cunningham Prods.

The thriller, set in the world of reality television, focuses on a hit show — a la MTV’s “Real World” — in which one of the cast members is murdered.

Schlattmann drew from his experience as a TV writer on such shows as “The Crew,” “Secret Service Guy” and “Roseanne.”

Cunningham, who produced Wes Craven’s breakthrough chiller “Last House on the Left,” and directed “Friday the 13th,” currently is producing “Freddy vs. Jason” for New Line Cinema.

Mark Haslett, VP of development, brought the project into Cunningham.

Schlattmann is repped by Paul Weitzman of Preferred Artists Agency.
