‘Costello’ to use Super 16

Wind Dancer to receive CinOvation with Camera Support

Wind Dancer Production Group, which produces “Home Improvement,” has opted for Super 16mm to shoot “Costello,” the new comedy series it’s producing in association with Touchstone Television for the fall season on Fox.

“Costello” will be shot using Camera Support’s new proprietary camera system, CinOvation.

While 35mm has long been the industry standard, there’s a current growth in the use of Super 16mm.

“Touched by an Angel,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Promised Land” are some of the shows that have been shot on Super 16mm.

“The decision to shoot in Super 16mm,” Gayle S. Maffeo, senior VP of television at Wind Dancer, said in a statement, “was based on the terrific results of test shots done for the show, its ease in being able to quickly off-line the show during production, as well as the ability to easily transfer to the new digital format which will become industry standard in the coming years.”
