Berenger under ‘Siege’

Vet thesp to star opposite Weller, Hannah in Trimark pic

Tom Berenger has joined the cast of Trimark Pictures’ “Diplomatic Siege.”

Pic, which toplines Peter Weller and Daryl Hannah, begins shooting Saturday in Bucharest.

In the suspense thriller, a career diplomat (Weller) and a consular expert (Hannah) attempt to thwart Serbian terrorists who take 37 people hostage in an American Embassy.

Pic is the English-language debut of Chilean helmer Gustavo Graef Marino. Tapestry Films’ Robert Levy, Peter Abrams and Natan Zahavi are producing. “Siege” was written by Bob Boris, Dylan Free, Sam Bernard and Kevin Bernhardt.

Vice president of production Darin Spillman is overseeing the film for Trimark.

Berenger’s credits include “Platoon,” “Major League,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Betrayed,” “Love at Large,” “Shattered” and “The Substitute.” He stars in MGM’s “One Man’s Hero,” set for a 1999 release.
