BERLIN — Max Faerberboeck’s period romance “Aimee & Jaguar” will enter the competition at next year’s Berlin Intl. Film Festival, Berlin-based Senator Film announced on Tuesday.
The German-lingo pic starring Maria Schrader and Juliane Koehler is based on the true story of two women, one Jewish and one Gentile, who fall in love during World War II.
The Berlin setting of “Aimee & Jaguar” led Senator to chose the Berlinale over other international festivals, said producers Guenter Rohrbach and Hanno Huth.
Berlinale director Moritz de Hadeln has accepted the film into competition. The movie’s German release date has been pushed back from October to February 1999.
