Actors Michael Caine (“Blood and Wine”) and Joey Lauren Adams (“Chasing Amy”) have inked to topline in the indie comedy “Young at Heart” for Triple Peak Prods.
Caine will play a retired dance instructor in New York who stumbles across $500,000 and heads to San Francisco with Adams to open a dance studio. The duo are chased by Caine’s son-in-law, who wants the laundered money back.
John Warren (“Major League: Back to the Minors”) is helming, based on his own script.
Brad Southwick, who formed Triple Peak with Juan Collas, is producing. No distributor has yet been set. “Young at Heart” is slated to begin shooting in Los Angeles and New York in late September.
Triple Peak is also prepping two other projects slated for a fall production start and expected to be budgeted in the $10 million range:
– The dark comedy “Road Block,” helmed by Bill Malone (“Tales from the Crypt”) and produced by Chris Knight of The Knight Co.
– “Body Armor,” an action thriller to be directed by John Weidner. “Young at Heart” is Triple Peak’s first full-length feature. It has also produced a series of HBO premieres and pay cable films including “Counterforce” with Michael Rooker (“Cliffhanger”) and Robert Patrick (“Cop Land”) about a rogue SWAT team.
Caine and Adams are repped by ICM.
