The directors of the five films that are Oscar-nominated for foreign-language pic will participate in a public symposium March 21, where they’ll discuss their films and respond to questions from the audience.
Producer/director Norman Jewison will moderate the two-hour event, which will be free to the public; it will be held in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, starting at 10 a.m.
Attending will be Brazil’s Bruno Barreto, director of “Four Days in September”; Germany’s Caroline Link, helmer of “Beyond Silence”; the Netherlands’ Mike van Diem (“Character”); Spain’s Montxo Armendariz (“Secrets of the Heart”); and Russian’s Pavel Chukhrai (“The Thief”).
Clips from the nominated films will be screened.
