Computer ani vet joins f/x house

Bill Kroyer, a veteran director of animation and computer graphics commercials, movie titles and films, has joined digital f/x and production company Rhythm & Hues Studios.

Kroyer has been working with Rhythm & Hues since January, directing various commercial spots. As a permanent member of the company, he’ll be involved in both the commercial and feature film areas.

Kroyer’s experience in computer imagery dates back to his work as computer image choreographer on the 1982 CGI pic “Tron.” He has since directed the Fox animated film “Ferngully, The Last Rainforest,” and received an Academy Award nom for his animated short, “Technological Threat.”

From 1987 to 1994, Kroyer and his wife Sue ran the production company Kroyer Films, where they created commercials and feature title sequences. Kroyer recently completed a stint in the Warner Bros. feature animation department.
