Film Roman has inked a deal with Launch Media Inc. to produce original animation and live-action content for the company’s monthly CD-ROM entertainment magazine.

Under the terms of the deal, Film Roman, which produces “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill” for the Fox network, will produce five minutes worth of original animated shorts for the subscriber-based interactive magazine. Launch, which debuted in 1994, covers the music and film industries through text and streaming video-based interviews.

The Santa Monica-based Launch privately produces and distributes the magazine on CD-ROM and through its “myLAUNCH” Web site at http://www.mylaunch.com. It currently has 1 million monthly subscribers.

Cutting edge exposure

David Pritchard, prexy and CEO of Film Roman, said, “Our alliance with Launch will help us build brand awareness for our new content and establish us as a leader for creative animation in the interactive digital environment.”

Film Roman’s first shorts will debut in February 1999. Both companies declined to disclose financial terms of the deal.
