Bookseller to feature Disney boutiques on websites

Disney Online and BarnesandNoble.com, two notable World Wide Web-based brands if ever there were such, announced Wednesday an alliance of sorts, whereby each would accommodate Disney-themed book boutiques on each site.

BarnesandNoble.com, a unit of megabookstore seller Barnes and Noble Inc., will also create a “mega-Disney book site” on its anchor Website, and will feature more than 2,000 Disney publishing titles. In all cases, whether one purchases on the Disney sites or at BarnesandNoble.com, the latter entity will process the sales.

Although it was not specifically stated, sources at Barnes and Noble indicated Wednesday that there are further alliances (these in the “real world,” i.e., barnes and Noble bookstores) to be announced down the road between these two companies, including the likely set-aside in each Barnes and Noble location for a Disney-themed “ministore.” Further details of these plans were not forthcoming, however.
