Blue Sky/VIFX feels the ‘Chill’

F/x house's slate swelling

Bicoastal digital animation and effects house Blue Sky/VIFX (“Blade,” “Armageddon,” “The X-Files”) has been awarded visual effects work for the Warner Bros. actioner “Chill Factor” from Morgan Creek Prods. The visual f/x crew tapped for the project will be based out of Blue Sky’s L.A. location.

Blue Sky has the advantage of beginning work early on the project. The pic’s visual effects supervisor, John DesJardin, (“Firestorm,” “The Relic”), is currently on location in South Carolina working with the filmmakers on planning the visual f/x sequences. Principal photography begins in October.

“Chill Factor” adds to a busy 1998-99 release season for Blue Sky/VIFX. The company was recently awarded contracts to produce digital animation and visual effects for David Fincher’s “Fight Club,” and Mike Newell’s “Pushing Tin,” both for 20th Century Fox.
