BigE.com said Monday it has partnered with Hollywood Online, an independent subsidiary of the Times Mirror Co., to serve as the Web site’s exclusive merchant of movie merchandise.
Hollywood Online (www.hollywood.com), the Santa Monica-based Web site that features audio and video clips, trailers, music, photos, interactive games, news, reviews and show times, does not currently feature any other online merchants on its site.
Stuffed with dollars
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Big Entertainment entered the e-commerce ring over the Thanksgiving holiday, when it launched BigE.com, which quickly generated sales in the six figures, prompting Big Entertainment to close its mall-based stores and focus on the Internet venture.
BigE.com has also closed deals to become the exclusive movie product merchant on USA Today’s Web site and it will soon be available on Time Warner’s Road Runner high-bandwidth online system.
Big Entertainment shares surged up $2.13 or 22% on the news, closing at $11.88.
