USA Miami venture to debut

WYHS becomes WAMI

More than two years in the making, USA Broadcasting’s “City Vision” local programming venture in Miami will debut June 8.

USA’s Miami TV station, presently a Home Shopping Network affiliate, will change its call letters at that time from WYHS to WAMI. USA is mounting a major promotional blitz in South Florida to brand the indie outlet simply as “Miami.”

WAMI’s new format will feature mostly locally produced news and entertainment fare in daytime and primetime, with a few exceptions such as ABC’s “Politically Incorrect” and Twentieth TV’s new syndie talkshow with Earvin (Magic) Johnson, which also bows June 8.
