Universal Television & Networks Group has tapped Karin Timpone VP of communications.
Based in Los Angeles, Timpone is responsible for all worldwide internal and external communications for Universal Studios television activities, including free and pay television, networks and production primarily focused on international markets. She will work closely with each area of the group in developing a cohesive communications strategy.
“Her proven public relations success in the U.S., Latin America and Europe will enable Karin to play a key role in aligning our communications objectives with our overall business strategy as Universal’s global television operation grows,” said UTNG chairman Blair Westlake, to whom Timpone reports.
Timpone joins Universal from the Seagram Co., where she served since 1996 as director of communications and public relations for Seagram Americas. Among the brands she developed communications strategies for was Absolut Vodka, for which she created a PR network in the U.S. and beyond.
Prior to that, Timpone held various senior level communications positions for Seagram’s corporate communications division, including the direction of the corporation’s global brands communications strategy.
Prior to joining Seagram in 1993, Timpone worked for a number of marketing communications and PR firms in N.Y. and London.
