NEW YORK — Daniel Crown, president and CEO of Crown Theaters, will receive the 1998 Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at this year’s ShowEast convention, to be held Oct. 22 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.
“Dan is another great example of what the people in our industry are able to accomplish if they give their time and efforts to worthy causes,” said Shauna King, general chairwoman of the confab. “His leadership skills have been put to good use as he has acted as a board member for a variety of charitable organizations.”
ShowEast will fete the industry veteran at the final gala banquet for his service on such boards as the Jerusalem Foundation, Mount Sinai Children’s Center Foundation and the Allen-Stevenson School.
Crown is a national board member and former president of the Gotham chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. He is also a member of the board of trustees at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Crown Theaters operates 69 screens and develops between 80 and 120 more each year, most of which are housed in multi- and megaplexes with 15 to 20 screens and up to 5,000 seats.
Crown will join previous award recipients such as Lee Roy and Tandy Mitchell, Gerry Byrne, Tom Sherak, Allen Karp, Hank Lightstone, A. Alan Friedberg, Paul Roth, Bernard Myerson, Stan Durwood and Carl Patrick.
