Rogers exec VP at Cahners

Lieberman ankles post to pursue other ventures

Publishing executive Glenn Rogers has been named executive vice president of Cahners Business Information’s Entertainment, Communications & Media Group, effective Oct. 1. Rogers will head a group that includes Variety, Daily Variety and 24 other publications, as well as book publisher R.R. Bowker.

“I am very pleased to welcome Glenn to Cahners,” said Cahners Prexy and CEO Bruce Barnet. “He has experience in every aspect of publishing, from operations to business development, circulation and sales and marketing. His broad and deep background will be invaluable to us as we expand our role as a leading information provider.”

Rogers, who will be based in New York and Los Angeles, has 20 years experience in consumer and trade magazine publishing. He joins Cahners from Advanstar Communications, where he was exec VP in charge of telecommunications, entertainment and information technology publications. Earlier in his career, Rogers was president of Island Publishers in Victoria, British Columbia.

He will replace Mark Lieberman, who is leaving to pursue opportunities in the entertainment, technology and media markets.

“I have enjoyed working with Peter Bart, Gerry Byrne and the Variety team over the past year and look forward to watching them take the Variety brand into the digital millennium,” Lieberman said.
