The former general manager of the Hollywood Bowl and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra has accepted the position of general manager of the New York City Ballet.
Anne Parsons was general manager of the Bowl from April 1991 through April 1998 when Willem Wijnbergen, the L.A. Philharmonic managing director, took over her Bowl programming duties. Parsons was general manager of the Bowl orchestra from its inception in April 1991 until last month. Her replacement with the orchestra is expected to be named soon.
“She worked passionately for the Bowl and was involved in every phase of its activities,” Philharmonic board president Barry Sanders said at a recent Bowl orchestra rehearsal.
Prior to the Bowl, Parsons was orchestra manager of the Boston Symphony from 1983 to 1991.
In addition, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra will present the world premiere of James Horner’s score from “The Mask of Zorro.” John Mauceri, principal conductor of the Bowl orchestra, has created a classical suite from the score to be performed as part of the Tango Magic concerts, Aug. 14-16.
