NewStar Media has tapped former ABC exec David Collins VP of development. Collins was the exec director of movies for television at the ABC Television Network for the past six years.
“With (Collins’) expertise, we expect to build a solid base of movies and series programming,” said NewStar Television head Ron Ziskin in a statement. During his tenure at ABC, Collins supervised several dozen movies including Hallmark’s “A Place for Annie,” the four-hour miniseries “Stephen King’s The TommyKnockers,” “Empty Cradle” and “Into Thin Air: Death on Everest.” Most recently Collins was the exec in charge of NewStar’s “Futuresport,” coming to ABC in the fall.
