Cynthia Parsons McDaniel, Gotham-based VP of publicity for Gramercy Pictures since 1997, will become special projects editor for InStyle, the Time Inc. celebrity lifestyle magazine.
In the new position, McDaniel will assist managing editor Martha Nelson with the magazine’s fashion shows, Oscar parties and other editorial-related events.
Prior to Gramercy, McDaniel spent four years as director of public relations at William Morris, where she was in charge of publicity, television bookings and organizing events. She also previously served as television writer and producer at NBC for “Later with Bob Costas,” where she was nominated for an Emmy.
McDaniel denied that the uncertain fate of Gramercy as on-the-block Polygram fails to find a buyer was the reason for her move.
According to statistics released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations, InStyle surpassed the 1 million mark for a total average paid circulation of 1.151,024 for the six months ending June 30, a 19% increase from the previous year.
Gramercy executive VP of publicity Claudia Gray said she’ll be looking for McDaniel’s replacement.
