Marqee taps Campbell

Exec takes over Oz office

The Marquee Group, the marketing/production company that focuses on sports, has hired Ian Campbell, president of Nike Sports Entertainment, to take charge of a new Australian office of Marquee.

Campbell, an Australian native who was a track-and-field athlete on the continent’s 1980 Olympic team, spent 12 years with Nike and four years with NBA Properties, concentrating on international business and marketing.

Bob Gutkowski, president and CEO of Marquee, says the new division will represent Australian athletes, seek out corporate sponsorships and do licensing and marketing for sports indigenous to Australia. Corporate offices headquartered in Australia are a must, Gutkowski continues, because the buildup is already beginning for the Summer Olympic Games, which will take place in Sydney in 2000.
