Lions Gate taps Beggs

Exec bags senior veep job

Kevin Beggs has been appointed senior VP of drama development at Lions Gate Media, where he will develop one-hour dramas, specifically focusing on cable, syndication and the international marketplace.

Beggs previously served as a producer on “Baywatch,” where he handled production, development, marketing, business affairs and licensing from 1991-1996.

Most recently, Beggs has been an independent television producer and worked with “Baywatch” co-creator and exec producer Doug Schwartz on several made-for-TV movies and hour-long dramas. Prior to that, Beggs was VP of development for Berk/Schwartz/Bonann Prods. under the company’s overall development agreement with Touchstone Television.

Lions Gate’s growing TV entities include Mandalay Television Pictures and Mandalay Series Television (ABC’s “Cupid,” Showtime’s “Rude Awakening,” Lifetime’s “Oh Baby”), Termite Art and Lions Gate Family Entertainment.
