NEW YORK– George magazine editor-in-chief John Kennedy Jr. is now also president of the 2-year-old consumer politico monthly.
A founder and co-owner of the magazine, Kennedy’s additional appointment came as no surprise, but Hachette Filipacchi Magazines prexy/CEO David J. Pecker said the move would “more fully integrate John into the publishing of the magazine.”
Kennedy, in turn, announced that Stephen McEvoy has been tapped VP/publisher of George, replacing Elinore Carmody-Gibbons, who has taken a leave of absence.
McEvoy most recently held the VP/advertising director post at Elle. Under his watch, ad pages increased by 15%.
Now entering its third year, George’s circulation has grown to 425,000 from 225,000, with 127,000 copies sold at newsstands.
