TORONTO — Cinar Films Inc. announced Tuesday that it has signed a deal to purchase HighReach Learning Inc. for about $26 million in cash and shares.
HighReach Learning is a privately held Charlotte, N.C.-based company that designs, publishes and distributes educational products for children ages 16 months to kindergarten.
Its acquisition complements the purchase last summer of Carson Dellosa, a Greensboro, N.C., educational products company for children from kindergarten to the 12th grade.
“It’s a shift that we planned about two years ago,” said Cinar prexy and co CEO Ronald Weinberg. “We’re trying to tie in what we believe are quality entertainment products with quality education products.”
Cinar Films is a Montreal based entertainment company involved in the development, production, post-production and worldwide distribution of nonviolent TV programming and education products for children and families.
