Imax Corp. has entered into a long-term consulting deal with its senior vice president of worldwide communications, Al Newman.
Under the arrangement, Newman has contracted to oversee Imax’s corporate publicity for the entertainment business.
Newman, who has worked for Imax a little more than two years, will re-establish his PR agency shingle, Newman & Co., which he shuttered on joining the giant-screen licenser.
Based in Beverly Hills, Newman & Co. will be nonexclusive to Imax.
Before forming his first independent PR outfit in 1991, Newman held senior publicist posts at several major studios, including Columbia Pictures, MGM and 20th Century Fox.
Imax has licensed more than 150 theaters in 22 countries. It has exhibition alliances with Sony Corp. and Viacom’s Famous Players, among others.
