Jenny Hontz has been appointed Television Editor of Variety and Daily Variety, the papers’ vice president and editor-in-chief Peter Bart has announced. As Television Editor, Hontz will be responsible for overseeing the papers’ coverage of the broadcasting industry, and will continue to be Variety’s lead reporter on network programming, focusing on Hollywood but also offering guidance to Variety’s expanded Gotham coverage.
Prior to joining Variety, Hontz was a reporter for Electronic Media, first in Washington, D.C., where she covered Congress and the FCC, and later in Los Angeles. She joined Variety in 1996.
“Jenny Hontz has provided our newspapers with first-rate reporting on the broadcast industry, and we welcome her leadership in further expanding and improving our coverage,” Bart said.
Born in Washington, D.C., Hontz is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Il.
