Fox taps Bloch drama VP

USA exec ankles programming post

Fox Broadcasting Co. as early as next week is expected to name Cheryl Bloch vice president of drama development, reporting to senior vice president of drama series Danielle Claman.

Bloch has ankled Studios USA, where she has served as senior vice president of drama programming since last year, developing such series as “Hollyweird,” “Players” and “Timecop.”

Bloch was named what was then Universal TV’s senior vice president of current programming in 1996 under former division president Tom Thayer. Prior to that, she was a supervising producer of U’s Emmy Award-winning drama “Northern Exposure” since the series began in 1990.

She also worked as vice president of Brand/Falsey Prods., where she helped develop and produce “Going to Extremes” and “I’ll Fly Away.”

Bloch began her career at Universal TV in 1985, as associate producer of the Steven Spielberg-produced “Amazing Stories,” and she was an associate producer of U’s “A Year in the Life” and Dick Wolf’s “Gideon Oliver.”
