Del Grosso, Cherniss and Vanides have new duties

Fox Broadcasting Co. has hired and promoted several executives in its research and marketing department.

Serge Del Grosso has been named vice president of research and marketing, based in New York and reporting to senior VP Giles Lundberg.

Emily Vanides also has been upped to director of audience research in New York, while Matthew Cherniss has been upped to director of program research in Los Angeles, and Romy Guntman has joined the web as director of market research.

Del Grosso was most recently veep and director of market resources at CBS, and he also worked for NYNEX and Young and Rubicam. In his new post, he’ll work on big-picture marketing issues with the advertising and ad agency community.

Vanides, who joined Fox in 1996 as a manager, reports to Tim Dempsey, VP of audience research. She serves as a key liaison between the research department and other network departments such as sales, publicity, finance, scheduling and programming.

Cherniss, who reports to program research VP Charles Kennedy, will provide analysis for the programming and scheduling departments. He started working at Fox in 1994 as an analyst. Guntman, who previously ran her own research firm, will now report to Kennedy and will help test viewers responses to Fox pilots, series, marketing campaigns and network image.
