Joanne Burns has been named veepee of research and strategic planning for Eyemark Entertainment.
Burns will oversee all program research for CBS’ syndie wing and other Eyemark divisions involved in cable, international and advertising sales. She reports to Barry Wallach, Eyemark’s exec VP of syndication.
Burns comes to Eyemark after spending two years as senior VP and director of marketing for the syndication arm of Nielsen Media Research. During her tenure at Nielsen, Burns oversaw a major restructuring of Nielsen’s syndication operations.
Before Nielsen, Burns served stints as a research exec for Disney’s Buena Vista Television and LBS Communications. She began her TV career in 1979 with Group W Television, which was absorbed by Eyemark in 1996 as part of Westinghouse Electric Co.’s buyout of CBS.
