Edwards Theatres Circuit has tapped former General Cinema veep Kevin P. Forbotta as VP, theater operations. Also joining Edwards executive ranks are Susan Hill, director of marketing; Larry Porricelli, director of distributor relations; and James Woodin, media coordinator.

Gems Television, Latin America’s leading femme-skewed cabler, has tapped Yolanda Ramirez-Foster as VP of programming. Ramirez segues to Fort Lauderdale-based Gems from Miami’s CBS station, WFOR, where she was director of programming and research.

The Jim Henson Co. has upped Debbie McClellan to director of corporate affairs. McClellan will coordinate corporate meetings and retreats, event planning, corporate analysis and oversee the day-to-day executive office. Prior to her appointment, McClellan was manager of corporate affairs at the company.

Christine Carrier has been upped to account veepee, southeast region, at Showtime Networks. In her new position, Carrier will be responsible for one of Showtime Networks’ key accounts, Cox Communications. Most recently, Carrier served as area general manager of the same region for the company.

Cord Douglas has been upped to VP of sales and acquisitions at Keller Entertainment Group. Douglas, who formerly served as director of sales and acquisitions, will oversee Keller’s distribution department, as well as acquire properties and completed product to expand the company’s distribution slate.

PRIMEDIA Inc. announces the appointment of four execs as part of its new operating structure. Curtis A. Thompson has been upped from corporate VP and controller to the new position of group president and chief executive officer of the PRIMEDIA Information Group.

M. David Tanzer, the company’s president and CEO of Channel One, has been tapped for the new position of president and CEO of PRIMEDIA Consumer Magazines. Kevin M. McAliley, prexy and CEO of Films for the Humanities and Sciences, will take on the responsibilities as prexy and CEO of Channel One, replacing Tanzer. And Steven R. Elzy, current prexy and CEO of PRIMEDIA Special Interest Publications, will move to the new post of exec VP for the PRIMEDIA Special Interest Group.
