King World Prods. has upped Eric Ritter to executive managing editor of its syndie newsmag “Inside Edition.” In the newly created post, Ritter will be responsible for plotting the show’s day-to-day news coverage and other planning duties. NBC Studios has tapped Stacey Davis director of publicity. In her new post, Davis will work closely with her NBC Entertainment counterparts to publicize NBC Studios’ expanding role as a producer of quality primetime series and made-for-television movies and miniseries. Davis joins NBC from the Lippin Group in L.A., where she was a senior account executive.

Denise Kasell has been appointed executive director of the 1998 Hamptons Intl. Film Festival. Kasell has developed and produced feature films as well as television programs and was formerly the executive director of both the Hudson Valley Film & Video Office and the Hudson Valley Film Festival.

NBC has tapped Tim McCleary for the newly created post of director of media services and special projects. McCleary, who most recently served as senior publicist for the WB Network, will oversee the distribution of all NBC Entertainment press materials, and he’ll develop a new system to streamline the electronic distribution of press materials via the Peacock web’s Website.

MovieFone has upped Richard O’Connell to senior VP of exhibitor sales, also boosting Matt Blumberg to VP of marketing and product management. O’Connell will manage MovieFone’s association with exhibitors, overseeing the expansion of both teleticketing and reserved seating programs. Blumberg will work to combine the marketing, advertising, sales and product management efforts of MovieFone and MovieLink into one department.

Mike Papadaki has been upped to senior vice president of marketing theatrical motion pictures of Todd-AO Studios, chief operating officer J.R. DeLang announced. Papadaki will be responsible for all theatrical film sales for Todd-AO Studios, Todd-AO Studios West, and Todd-AO Studios East. Most recently, Papadaki was senior VP of sales and marketing for consolidated film industries at the company.

KCRW (89.9 FM) has named Kyle McKinnon the new producer of “Which Way, L.A?” with Warren Olney, the station’s signature public affairs program. McKinnon has served as writer-producer for news and entertainment shows at television stations KTLA and KCAL, in addition to writing and reporting for Tribune New Media Development and the Orlando Sentinel.

Ken Kay has been upped to VP of direct-to-home at Showtime Networks. In his new position, Kay will oversee Showtime’s daily TVRO opera-tions in addition to the direct-to-home financial operations group. Prior to his appointment, Kay worked as director of business planning for the com-pany.

Julie Piepenkotter has been promoted to veepee of syndication research for Buena Vista Television. Piepenkotter, who has been with BVTV since 1989, most recently served as executive director of research.
